Abraham Saddas, the Vice President of The Community Food Connection was awarded Volunteer of the Year, receiving the Vocational Service Leadership Award from the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo, Sunrise for his excellence in service to the Community.

The Jacob Cushman San Diego Food Bank awarded The Community Food Connection their Super Pantry Covid 19 Grant for site improvements, food purchases, signage and more.

Kiwanis Club of Poway held their second annual 20/20 Food Drive in support of The Community Food Connection.

People were encouraged to bring either 20 pounds of food or a $20 donation or both! The event was a success and

included donations from EDCO, THE FARM, UNITE NCI, and TOYOTA of Poway and once again, featured the Miss Poway Teen and Junior Teen Princesses as greeting hostesses!

June 2021​

The Sunrise Rotary Club of Poway awarded a grant to The Community Food Connection to re-furbish the building's deck with new plywood, paint and fixtures. They also provided labor!!

May 2020

L&T Precision, LLC, a corporation providing machining and sheet metal fabrication services located here in Poway held their first food drive to benefit The Community Food Connection, donating over 300 pounds of much needed food.

December 2020

The City of Poway’s Deputy Mayor Barry Leonard presented a check for $1,000.00 in support of The Community Food Connection’s efforts to reduce food insecurity over the holidays.

Sanitizing Solutions of San Diego, a certified sanitation expert, has donated their services to disinfect The Community Food Connection monthly to keep our environment clean and safe for distributing food during the COVID-19 epidemic.

The Rancho Bernardo Community Foundation hosted a Thanksgiving Luncheon which raised funds for deserving non-profits, which was then matched by The Rancho Bernardo Foundation and gifted in part to The Community Food Connection during this past holiday season.

 

June 2020

The Sunrise Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo pledged to assist The Community Food Connection in protecting the pantry building from termites with the gift of termite service.

Super Pantry Status from The San Diego Food Bank was awarded to The Community Food Connection for distributing food a minimum of three days a week. Along with the award was a financial gift for purchasing equipment to aid in the distribution process. New refrigerators and freezers were installed, keeping our food safe and our electrical costs down.

Poway Gymnastics in Poway, CA. held a food drive benefitting The Community Food Connection, bringing in over 500 pounds of food. Gymnastics teachers were there to greet their gymnastics participants and families as a way to say hello and benefit those who are food insecure in our Community.

 

January, 2020

The Pomerado Christian Church in Poway, CA, gifted The Community Food Connection with funds from their annual Gifts for Jesus his past Christmas.  The funds aided the pantry in much needed pantry building renovations including a new pantry roof, shoring up of the trailer structure and a new laminate floor replacing the old carpet.
