Once a month we honor a member of our team from our volunteer group as Volunteer of the Month. We can’t express our thanks enough to all the volunteers who show up every week as drivers, food sorters, distributors and administrators.

August 2025: Ha Johnston
Thank you Ha for being a part of our volunteer team!! We appreciate you being an in-house substitute and willing to work outside as well to serve our clients. And for also subbing at the last minute when we need someone quick. Your smile and fun personality are enjoyed by everyone who works with you. We are grateful to have you at The Community Food Connection!

July 2025: Vickie Hubbard
Thank you Vickie for being a part of our volunteer team! We appreciate you being a driver as well as doing the receipts too! Getting the data uploaded in the system on time and accurately is important and you are doing a superb job! Thanks for your commitment to The Community Food Connection.

June 2025: Yuri Maistrenco
Yuri Maistrenco is a hard worker who always looks for what needs to be done. He is eager to help and has gone above and beyond to assist us. From stacking boxes in the cold room to helping with Amazon Fresh deliveries, Sprouts pickups on Sundays, and substituting as a driver, Yuri has been a valuable asset to our organization. We truly appreciated his help during the USPS food drive as well!

May 2025: Patty Fuqua
Patty has consistently shown an incredible commitment to our team and mission. Whether it’s taking charge on Monday mornings, stepping up to support the Volunteer Coordinator, or crafting clear and creative signs to guide us, Patty's dedication and leadership make a significant impact. Not only does Patty demonstrate flexibility by adapting to every situation, but she also leads by example, motivating others and ensuring that our team operates smoothly. Thank you, Patty, for your hard work, leadership, and the positive energy you bring to every task!

March 2025: Kevin Bostenero
Kevin is one of our dedicated and hardworking Friday afternoon Team Leaders. He keeps distribution running smoothly and safely while he always greets each client with a smile. Kevin also jumps in each week as a substitute driver picking up food from our local grocers. Most recently, Kevin has assumed responsibility for writing our grant applications. Our success is due to volunteers like Kevin!

February 2025: Cas Szuberla
Cas takes responsibility for picking up valuable food from one of our Vons stores twice a week. And our Driver Coordinator is most appreciative that Cas regularly jumps in to assist as a substitute driver at other stores. Cas is a pleasure to work with and is very helpful around our pantry!

January 2025: Patty Jennings
Patty wears many hats at the food pantry. She is one of our talented Wednesday afternoon Team Leaders preparing boxes for distribution. Patty also leads our Oasis Computer Team and can be found welcoming clients while scanning their ID cards. Her efforts are also appreciated on our Operations Team as we review procedures and manage our food supply. We are grateful to have Patty at the CFC!

October 2024: Bill Stacy
Congratulations to Bill Stacy, our Volunteer of the Month for October! Bill is a dedicated member of our team of drivers, and jumped right in when asked to assist with weekly San Diego Food Bank van runs. His heart for helping shines through not just on deliveries, but also when he stays to lend a hand to our inside staff. Bill has taken on Friday pickups and is always eager to help whenever we need him. His kindness and willingness to serve make him an invaluable part of the Community Food Connection team!

August 2024: Trevor Tibbs
Trevor Tibbs is a very enthusiastic and valued volunteer! Trevor works carts during Monday afternoon distribution, helps with the Big Truck delivery each month, and is eager to substitute whenever possible. We are very happy to have Trevor on the CFC Team!

June 2024: Lisa Sanford
Lisa Sanford is a team leader of our inside team on Wednesdays. She arrives early to help with the unloading of our Walmart delivery and helps put together boxes for our distribution. Just recently she helped with making 454 boxes to insure everyone got a box of food.
